3.9. Power supply system check, replacement of the fuel filter

Gasoline is extremely inflammable therefore at work with any components of fuel system it is necessary to accept special precautionary measures! Do not smoke, and do not come nearer to a venue of works with open fire or unprotected by the lamp shade carrying. Do not perform such works in the garages equipped with heating devices, working at natural gas (such, as водогреи, dryers, etc.)! The working platform should be ventilated well. At gasoline hit on skin immediately wash away it water with soap. At carrying out any works with fuel system put on goggles and hold near at hand the fire extinguisher. In case of a gasoline spillage immediately wipe a pool, but do not keep the rags impregnated with gasoline in places where the risk of its ignition is not excluded! |

- At emergence of a smell of gasoline during movement or after the car stood on the sun, it is necessary to check a condition of all fuel system immediately.
- Uncover a fuel tank and check it on existence of damages and signs of development of corrosion. Estimate a condition of a sealing element of a cover. Defective components replace.
- Survey lines of giving and fuel return on existence of cracks and deformations. Estimate reliability of a tightening of shtutserny connections on the fuel distributive highway and the built-in fuel filter.
- For the purpose of ensuring access to some components of a power supply system, such as the fuel tank and the separate fuel lines laid under the bottom, the car should be hung out previously over the earth (see appropriate section in Introduction).
- Having hung out the car, examine a fuel tank and its jellied mouth on existence of holes, cracks and other damages. It is necessary to give special attention to a condition of a joint of a mouth with a tank. Sometimes leakages of fuel arise owing to weakening of collars of fastening of a mouth, or because of rubber aging of which the mouth is made. Attentively study a condition of elements of fastening of a fuel tank, in case of need make the corresponding corrections.

At all do not undertake attempts of independent performance of repair of a fuel tank (excepting replacement of its rubber components), - remember that contact of fuel evaporations containing in a tank to open fire of a gas torch inevitably leads to ignition of the last! |
- Carefully check reliability of a tightening of all shtutserny connections of fuel hoses and the metal lines going from a tank. Make sure of absence of deformations and signs of aging of materials of flexible hoses. Replace defective components.

Details of installation of the fuel filter on petrol models

- Open a cover of a fuel tank for the purpose of pressure alignment in it with the atmospheric.
- By means of a special clip press fuel hoses.
- Turn out a hollow bolt of shtutserny connection (6).
- Weaken fixing screws (2).
- Remove assembly from rubber pillows of a support (7) and liberate from a collar (3) fuel filter (5).
- Disconnect from the old filter the inlet fuel line (1) and, having replaced a sealing ring, connect it to the new filter.
- At installation of the new filter track, that the plastic coupling acted from both parties of a collar (3), - the risk of development of galvanic corrosion otherwise raises.

- Further installation is made as it should be, the return to an order of dismantle of components.
- In summary start the engine and check the corresponding components of a fuel path on existence of signs of development of leaks, in case of need tighten fixing elements.

Diesel models - replacement of filters, moisture and air removal
Polnopotochny fuel filter
G270 CDI (М612)
Details of installation of the polnopotochny fuel filter on the diesel models equipped with the M612 engine (G270 CDI)

- Remove panels of furnish of a head of cylinders.
- Disconnect from the fuel filter (3) inlet (1) and final (2) fuel lines, - prepare replaceable fixing collars.
- If the filter acts in film together with a fixing collar (6), weaken bolts (4) and slightly raise a fuel (5) cooler.
- Weaken the coupling screw of a fixing collar (6) and take the fuel filter (70), or, - if it is required, - release the corresponding fixture and remove the filter assembled with a collar.
- Installation is made upside-down, - before engine start the filter should be filled with fuel, and the low-pressure head fuel path is blown (see. The section air Removal from a contour of low pressure of a fuel path).
- In summary start the engine and check fuel system on existence of signs of development of leaks. In case of need make the corresponding corrections.

Details of installation of the polnopotochny fuel filter on the diesel models equipped with the M628 engine (G400 CDI)

- Open a cowl and fix it in vertical situation.
- Remove assembly of an air purifier (1) (see. Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases).
- Disconnect from the fuel filter (70) inlet (70/1) and final (70/2) fuel lines, - prepare replaceable fixing collars.
- Weaken the coupling screw of a fixing collar (3) and take the fuel filter (70), or, - if it is required, - turn out bolts (2) and remove the filter assembled with a collar.
- Installation is made upside-down.
- In summary start the engine and check fuel system on existence of signs of development of leaks. In case of need make the corresponding corrections.

- Make replacement of the polnopotochny fuel filter (see above).
- Turn out fixing bolts and remove the filter (1).
- Pull on spuskny the gate (2) a hose in diameter about 8 mm.
- Weaken spuskny the gate (2) and merge in the prepared capacity a water-fuel mix.
- Disunite the socket (3).
- Unscrew a cover (4) moisture separators, - prepare a replaceable sealing ring.
- Take from a cover (4) filtering element (5).
- Installation is made upside-down.
- On the models equipped with the engine of a series 612, do not forget to blow in summary a low-pressure head fuel path (see. Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases).

Air removal
|
|
- If the engine stopped owing to a full oporozhneniye of a fuel tank, after filling it is necessary to remove air from a power supply system. For this purpose within no more than 60 seconds without interruption start the engine while it will not start to work steadily.
