3.6. Check of a condition of tires and pressure in them, designation of tires and disks of wheels, rotation of wheels

Depending on model and equipment tires and disks of the various sizes can be established. Wheel bolts for steel and light-alloy wheels have the identical sizes.

At installation of light-alloy wheels of production not Mercedes-Benzs can be demanded bolts of other sizes.

Winter tires as a rule have pressure of a rating upon 0.2 kgfs/cm2 above than summer, - pay attention to recommendations of manufacturers of winter tires.

Do not forget that use of winter tires as a rule imposes restrictions on high-speed modes of movement.

Regular carrying out check of a condition of tires allows to avoid the troubles connected with stops in a way because of the lowered wheel. Besides, such checks give valuable information on possible problems with a steering and a suspension bracket long before emergence of more serious symptoms.

Depth of a pattern of a protector

Check of pressure of air in tires

Values of pressure of air in the tires, given for small loading of the car, are minimum, providing comfort of movement.   1. Maintenance in tires of the correct pressure increases term of their service, helps to save fuel and improves the general comfort of movement. The special manometer is necessary for check of pressure.

  1. Always check pressure on cold tires (i.e. to a trip on the car). If to check pressure on the warm or warmed-up tires, it will lead to overestimate of indications of a manometer because of thermal expansion of tires.   2. Screw together a protective cap from the gate of a rating acting from a disk of a wheel or from a cap of a nave, then densely press to the gate a manometer nozzle. Consider instrument readings and compare them with recommended in Specifications / on the plate fixed from a reverse side of a cover of the hatch of a jellied mouth of a fuel tank. Do not forget to establish into place a protective cap for hit prevention in the mechanism of a nipple of dirt and moisture. Check pressure in all four tires and if necessary pump up them to the recommended value of pressure.
  3. Do not forget to support demanded pressure in a spare wheel.
  4. Unscrew a gate cap.
  1. Pressure of air in tires is checked once a month, and also at carrying out service (including spare a wheel). At check use a special manometer, or the manometer which has been built in the compressor.

It is not necessary to trust indications of the manometers which have been built in nozzles of compressors, tires used for pumping at petrol filling stations.

  1. Besides, pressure of air are necessary for checking before each long trip since temperature load of tires in this case increases.
  2. Necessary pressure of air in tires is given on a sticker being on inside of a cover of a fuel tank.

At use of winter tires pressure of air should be increased by 0.2 kgfs/cm2 in relation to the established value.

  1. Pressure of air of narrow tires of a spare wheel is specified on боковине a disk.  PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Unscrew a protective cap and the extension piece.
  2. Put on the gate a small amount of soap solution or a saliva. If the air vial is formed, tighten a nipple, having used a ledge on a metal protective cap.
  3. Again check the gate. If there are vials and the gate it is not possible to tighten, it is necessary to replace it, - drive away the car in a shinomontazhny workshop.
  4. Do not forget наворачивать into place a protective cap.

Examples of characteristic wear of protectors of tires

Lateral wear

Insufficient pressure in the tire leads to its overheat at movement owing to an excessive deflection therefore the protector does not nestle sufficiently on a road surface. It leads to loss of coupling with the road and to excessive wear of a protector, not to mention danger of an exit of the tire out of operation as a result of an overheat.

  • Check and adjust pressure;

Central wear

Spare wheel of the facilitated design

On models of a complete set of AMG at tire damage to the place of the failed wheel assembly the spare wheel of the facilitated design which at the first possibility it is necessary to replace standard is established, - compact запаска is calculated on run no more than 20 000 km.
