2.5.4. Control systems of speed (Tempostat / Speedtronic)

General information

The control system of speed Tempostat/Speedtronic enters into a standard complete set of considered models. The system allows to support automatically the chosen cruiser speed of movement of the car without impact on a gas pedal. Value of cruiser speed should be not lower 32 (petrol models)/40 (diesel models) than km/h. Application темпостата becomes especially convenient at long movement on the low-loaded direct country highways. For the purpose of safety it is not recommended to include темпостат at movement in the city, on twisting, abounding with turns, to roads, on a slippery paving, in a heavy rain and at other adverse weather conditions. In the cases listed above the driver should have possibility completely to supervise a mode of movement of the car.

Illiterate use темпостата can be at the bottom of a road accident! Include a control system of speed only at movement on free highways and under favorable weather conditions.

During functioning of system there can be an automatic moving of a pedal of gas which thus should not be held a foot in order to avoid damage of basic and axial mechanisms!

The control system of speed on considered models can function in one of two modes: as темпостат a standard design and as system of variable restriction of speed (Speedtronic), - switching of modes is made by means of the podrulevy lever switch located at the left on a steering column, assemblies of the combined podrulevy switch (see an illustration the Scheme of an arrangement of components of management on the dashboard and a steering column) are higher. The same switch provides possibility of management with system functioning within the chosen mode.

Management of functioning темпостата

Switching of modes of functioning of a control system by speed is made by pressing a face part thus activation of a mode of variable restriction of speed (Speedtronic) accompanied by turning on of the lever of the light LIM indicator built in in assembly.

The switch of activation/switching of control modes темпостата is located functioning on the right on a steering column (in a standard mode the LIM indicator does not burn)

Standard mode

In a standard mode of functioning темпостата built in the control lever handle the LIM indicator should not burn, - in case of need press the face button of the handle (5).

The switch design темпостата allows to enter into memory of system as cruiser any current speed of the car if it exceeds value in 32 (petrol models)/40 (diesel models) km/h, - rather quickly to wring out a control lever up or down. After input of cruiser speed release a gas pedal.

Increase and fall of value of cruiser speed is made by a lever otzhimaniye up/down respectively and its keeping in this situation.

Up-down at activated темпостате value of cruiser speed can be modified by short otzhimaniye of the lever with a step to 1 km/h. At a lever otpuskaniye after adjustment performance the new chosen value automatically is brought in memory of system.

Short-term acceleration of the car, for example at overtaking commission, can be made by a way of squeezing of a pedal of gas, - after a pedal otpuskaniye speed will automatically decrease to brought in memory темпостата cruiser value.

After car dispersal till the speed is higher 32 (petrol models)/40 (diesel models) km/h brought in memory темпостата cruiser speed can be caused by a way of short-term procrastination of the lever on itself.

Activate a call of cruiser speed from memory of system only if remember its value and are ready to movement in the corresponding high-speed mode.

At movement with included tempostaty under a bias and uphill there can be deviations from the set cruiser value of speed.

For switching off темпостата it is enough to wring out the switch lever from itself, or to press its face handle - the chosen value of cruiser speed remains in memory of system.

At a key povorachivaniye in the ignition lock in situation 1 or 0 there is a dumping brought in memory темпостата cruiser value.

To switching off темпостата leads also squeezing of a pedal of a foot brake, more than 4-second squeezing of a pedal of coupling (models with RKPP), and also transfer of the lever of the AT selector to the situation "N" (models with AT).

Speedtronic mode

The Speedtronic system provides variable restriction of speed of movement of a vehicle according to chosen уками.

The variable limiter of speed allows not to exceed at the expense of restriction of turns of the engine some established threshold of speed, for example, in need of rigid observance of traffic regulations.

Do not forget that responsibility for excess of a high-speed mode is born always by the driver!

The switch of activation/switching of control modes темпостата is located functioning on the right on a steering column (a management principle in the Speedtronic mode, - the LIM indicator burns)

Activation of a mode of variable restriction of a high-speed mode is made by pressing a face part of the handle of the lever of the switch темпостата and accompanied by operation of the switch of the yellow LIM indicator built in the handle, - the similar indicator is built in also speedometer assembly on an instrument guard of the car (see. Section Combination of devices, measuring instruments, control lamps and light indicators).

The limiter is activated only provided that the current speed of movement of the car differs from brought in memory of system of limiting value no more than on 30 km/h.

Change of value of speed limit (with a step in 10 km/h) is made by an otzhimaniye of the lever of the switch up or down, - the chosen value of speed limit will be highlighted on the screen of the multipurpose display. At the working engine input of any restriction of a high-speed mode, since value of 30 km/h is possible.

The established limit of speed can be exceeded when squeezing a pedal of gas against the stop with overcoming of a point of resistance (kickdown mode inclusion).

Unlike a mode темпостата, squeezing of a pedal of a foot brake does not lead to shutdown of the limiter of speed.

The exit from a mode of restriction can be made by a way of a short-term otzhimaniye of the lever from itself, or in pressing an end face of its handle, - indication of LIM should go out. Automatic shutdown of the limiter occurs at car dispersal in the kickdown mode till the speed exceeding established limiting value more than on 20 km/h.

If the limiter does not cope with an objective, for example, at movement downhill, the alarm buzzer is activated, and on the screen of the display of a combination of devices «LIMIT EXCEEDED» message is deduced.

Owing to design features of the indication of a speedometer can slightly differ from installations of the limiter of speed.
