1.5. Poddomkrachivaniye / posting of the car and transportation in case of failure

Poddomkrachivaniye by means of a regular jack at change of wheels

The regular jack is intended only for short-term lifting of the car at wheel replacement, before performance of any works under the car it is necessary to establish it on special props!


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Park the car on an equal horizontal platform, whenever possible with a firm covering.
  2. Reliably cock the parking brake.
  3. Transfer the AT selector lever to the situation "R".
  4. In case of need expose a sign of an emergency stop.
  1. Prop up protivootkatny boots a wheel located on a diagonals from a subject to replacement.

At procedure performance on a bias it is necessary to enclose boots under both wheels of a serviceable axis from descent.

  1. Prepare the necessary tool (a jack, a ballonny key) and a spare wheel.
  2. At the corresponding complete set remove a protective cap of a disk, then weaken bolts of fastening of the failed wheel.
  1. Prepare for work a regular hydraulic jack: collect the three-section handle and connect it to a drive of the hydropump of domkratny assembly. Check reliability of a tightening of a cap of a spuskny opening (2), - in case of need tighten a cap by means of a tetrahedral key (1) on the handle end.

The full reversing of a carving cap is interfaced to risk of loss of hydraulic liquid!

  1. Get a jack head under the corresponding platform of a case of the forward or back bridge, - track, that the jack settled down strictly vertically, and his heel rested all the surface against soil, - at friable soil enclose under a heel a suitable lining (in a winter season it is useful to have a piece of a wide board in the car).

Remember that regardless of bias existence the jack always should occupy strictly vertical situation!

  1. Working with the handle of a drive of the hydropump, raise the car a jack, - the damaged wheel should come off the earth completely.
  2. Turn out wheel bolts and make wheel replacement.
  3. Check pressure of a rating established запаски, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment (see. Specifications).

The maximum admissible duration of continuous operation of the electric compressor for a rating of tires makes 8 minutes.

  1. Weaken a carving cap of a spuskny opening of a jack and completely drown the piston of the last in the cylinder.
  2. Combine the removed wheel and the tool on the regular places.
  1. In summary evenly tighten wheel bolts in a diagonal order with demanded effort (130 Nanometers).

For fastening of wheels only firm bolts with Mercedes-Benz logo designation should be used!

Car posting

In modern practice the next four safe ways of posting of SUVs are used:

  • On the 2-rack-mount lift with application of special transitional nozzles;
  • On the 2-rack-mount lift with application of wheel captures;
  • On props with use of the elevating equipment;
  • Separate posting of a body and frame (when posting at the leveling stand).

The old transitional nozzles intended for posting of the W460 models for the W463 models do not suit!

Nozzles can be used also complete with props for fixing of the lifted car.

The set of transitional nozzles consists of the 4th support (1) and 4th Basic Elements (2).

Nozzles are fixed on paws of the 2-rack-mount lift which then are got under the ends of lateral beams of a body of the car.

Posting on the 2-rack-mount lift with application of wheel captures

One more way of posting of SUVs on the 5-ton 2-rack-mount lift is use of special wheel captures.

Captures are intended for fixing on rims with external diameter no more than 900 mm!

Separate posting of a body and frame

At works at the leveling stand the scheme of separate posting of a body and a car frame can be used.

Installation on the leveling stand of the car with the removed bridges is interfaced to risk of loss of balance. In such cases the body is dismantled about frames and both elements are hung out separately.

The body is hung out in the standard way with use of the 2-rack-mount lift and transitional nozzles (see above).

When posting frame (both with removed, and with the established bridges) paws of the lift are got to regions of basic arms of longitudinal levers of a suspension bracket, - in order to avoid risk of loss of balance the frame should be fixed reliably on paws.

Transportation of the emergency car

Transportation on a wrecker platform

It is most reasonable to transport the emergency car on the wrecker.

For loading of an emergency vehicle on a platform of the wrecker regular towing eyes (see below) can be used, - do not forget to switch in neutral provisions («N») of AT and a transfer case.

In order to avoid damage of a running gear car fixing on a platform should be made only for disks of wheels and at all for suspension bracket elements!

Towage of an emergency vehicle

At towage with the lifted forward bridge, and also at control of the parking brake at the roller test bench the engine should be switched off, - otherwise owing to active braking action of electronic protivozanosny (ESP) there can be a damage of brake system of the back bridge!

If to avoid towage it is not possible, it is most reasonable to make it on a rigid hitch (the ignition key of the emergency car should be turned in situation 2).

It is necessary to remember that at a detachment or in case of a full discharge of the storage battery shutdown of blocking of a wheel is not obviously possible, no less than removal of the lever of the AT selector from the situation "R"! The order of an emergency shutdown of blocking of the selector is described in the Section Start of motion and switching of automatic transmission.

The towing element (cable/bar) should cling only to a special towing eye, - at all for a bumper or suspension bracket elements.

At towage on a flexible hitch use only towing cable specially intended for this purpose. Application of modern synthetic materials allowed to adjust release of towing cables of the elastic design minimizing danger of breaks as a result of hit of a sling under wheels of the towed car.

The forward towing eye is located at the left under a bumper, back – also under a bumper, at the left in the direction of travel.

At refusal of AT or electric equipment failure towage of the emergency car should is made with the lever of the selector transferred to the position "N".

At damage of a transfer case before towage it is necessary to make dismantle of driveshafts.

Car towage with the damaged forward bridge should be made with a separation of wheels of the last from the earth and with disconnected back kardanny in bulk.

Самоконтрящиеся nuts of fastening of driveshafts are subject to replacement without fail!

At damage of the back bridge towage is made also with a separation of wheels from the earth with the forward wheels got on the special cart.

The driver of the towing car should try to move as much as possible evenly, smoothly releasing coupling at gear shifting and, especially, at a troganiye from a place.

Do not forget to turn a key in the lock of ignition of the towed car in situation 2, otherwise inevitably there will be a blocking of a steering column. Besides, at the included ignition indexes of turns and stoplights are activated also.

Activation of indexes of turns at the switched-on alarm system leads to temporary shutdown of the last.

At management of a towed vehicle watch, that during movement the cable constantly remained tense, - manipulating a foot brake, try not to allow sharp breakthroughs and arrivals on a proslablenny cable.

Remember that at the switched-off engine efficiency of braking of the car considerably decreases because the vacuum amplifier of brakes ceases to function, thus it is necessary to squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake with much big, than usually effort. At maneuvering performance the bigger effort should be put also to a steering wheel, - the steering pump also will not function.

Before a start of motion drivers of both vehicles (towing and towed) should coordinate among themselves a route.

Movement should be carried out only with moderate speeds, on the shortest route and observance of traffic regulations. Avoid sharp braking, accelerations and maneuvering. Remember that at car towage on edge of a dirt road always there is a danger of demolition on a roadside.

Features of towage of the emergency cars equipped with AT

At a detachment or in case of a full discharge of the storage battery removal of the lever of the AT selector from the situation "R" usual soposoby is not obviously possible! The order of an emergency shutdown of blocking of the selector is described in the Section Start of motion and switching of automatic transmission.

The cars equipped with AT, can be towed by a forward course on all four wheels with the speed which is not exceeding 50 km/h and on distance no more than 50 km.

Non-compliance with requirements to restriction of the maximum speed of movement and limiting range of towage can lead to transmission damage.

Before the beginning of towage check level of transmission liquid (see. Head Onboard electric equipment), - at insufficient level of ATF, it is necessary to make necessary adjustment, or to tow the car only with the driving wheels torn off from the earth.

Towage of equipped AT of the car on big distances, and also with the failed transmission should be made only with a separation of driving wheels from the earth, or with the disconnected driveshafts, - in an ideal - on a wrecker platform!

Make the following preparatory procedures:

  • Release the parking brake;
  • Start the engine;
  • Transfer the selector lever to situation "D", then - in neutral («N»);
  • Muffle the engine;
  • Turn the ignition key in situation 2 (at all do not leave it in situation 0);
  • Function «During movement» can be switched off automatic locking of doors.

Towage for the purpose of engine start

Start of the engine of equipped AT of cars by a method of towage or pushing is not obviously possible, - in case of need use the auxiliary power supply.
